Slut Monkey Victory

In her book new book, A Trial of Faith: When the Devil Knows Your Name, Margaret shares her experience trying to rescue an abused monkey named Latoya from those who sought her for personal and financial exploitation.

Margaret suffered a barrage of public attacks by these people, who had dubbed themselves “Slut Monkeys” until shut down by Facebook for violating community standards. For instance, in a Fox News story published in San Antonio titled “Woman Believes Stolen Pet Monkey is in San Antonio” by Jocelyn Tovar, a woman named Bonnie Poe claimed that Margaret had committed a number of crimes and unethical acts in regard to getting medical and other help for Latoya. The press and media were quick to jump on the bandwagon, accusing Margaret in this case.

To set the record straight, Margaret sued the Slut Monkey women in district court for lying and defamation. The jury agreed with her and awarded her $315,000.00 from the Slut Monkeys, including Christine Hansen, Bonnie Poe, Sarah Christian Hany and Tracy Ross. In a stunning move, however, the presiding judge pro tem, who was assigned the case as a visiting judge when the actual judge had to take a temporary leave of absence, reversed the jury’s award and granted the defendants’ post-trial motion for judgment notwithstanding the jury’s verdict.

Margaret appealed the judge’s reversal of her judgment and the Fourth Court of Appeals Ruled that the judge pro tem was reversed, and the jury’s award of $315,000.00 was been reinstated. in Margaret’s Favor – March 20, 2019.

The TEXAS SUPREME COURT has UPHELD Margaret’s award of damages.

In Texas Supreme Court in Case 19-0366, has upheld the appellate court’s ruling that Margaret be awarded the $315,000 from the Slut Monkeys. One or more of the Slut Monkeys immediately filed for bankruptcy protection, but the bankruptcy court has dismissed their filings, and they must pay the judgement.

Below is the ruling of the court of appeals in the case:

Fourth Court of Appeals Rules in Margaret’s Favor – March 20, 2019

The Texas Court of Appeals has ruled that the jury in Margaret’s civil defamation case against the “slut monkey” defendants is valid, and has ordered the trial court to enter the judgment awarded by the jury.
